APOLOGY LINE
Task 1: Short film appreciation
Why I Chose This Film...
the variety of people calling the line was incredible. People from all walks of life and all ages were calling and leaving their apologies... Some truly fascinating and brutally honest messages that invoked reactions of both sympathy and shock and covered a whole range of emotions.

What Was Unusual?...
The way in which we were captivated as the audience by just the sound of voices came across as intriguing and highly effective. The fact that this was done without facial expressions would usually be seen to cause a degree of difficulty as our facial expressions often help imply certain emotions within the audience.

Dialogue is vital as it is the narrative of the film. There are voice overs throughout the short in the form of phonecalls.
The music that is played during the short helps set an atmosphere to help provoke particular emotions from the audience.
When using camera there were a lot of body shots which were rather ambiguous, creating a sense of mystery as individuals face could not be seen.
Representations of people were; people foreign accents which tended to be victims in this instance, people with british accent from various regions were often confessing to doing wrong or were aggressively defensive.

Task 2: Planning this film
Cast Issues
- People willing to be in their underwear or be confident actors
- Recruit through casting/agencies for specific type of model
- Content may effect people personally
- On the other hand professional actors will not be necessary as they would not have a main role- volunteers may be used which is cheap as they do not have to be payed.
- Permission to film on certain sites (could ask land lords for permission and possibly pay to use the site)
- Rent/hire coffee shop at night
- scouting for locations e.g. good sites to shoot the different versatile shots of a city and- we could either hire a location scout or create a team of people who will scout for locations and report with feedback.
- Location will not be too much of a problem as filming will mostly take place in outside public places so therefore consent will not be necessary in these circumstances
- The timings of the voice overs and the actual short film will not cause any difficulty as faces are not visible throughout the short, meaning the sound does need to match the movement of the lips of the cast.
- However the one aspect of timing that needs to be taken into consideration is the timing of when ethnic accents are talking and when a cast member appears- This is because if a female African accent is being heard on the voiceover and a white male appears in the short a lack of continuity would be shown
- The costumes the cast will wear during the short film will be fairly simple, for example the bedroom scene when we find an old man changing from a plain dinner shirt to a set of pyjamas.
- In order for our cast to get this these costumes, we will shop at Primark- this will allow us to stay within our set budget for the short film
- The main equipment the short requires is household essentials; such as a bed, lamp, Chester draws, a stall, blinds and curtains.
- All the equipment required may also be found in a location that we end up finding and in order to use the equipment we will ask for informed consent or attempt to hire the equipment.
- If both of these are not options I will ask member of the production team if they have any of these items themselves.
